Boats are the most varied of vehicles. From kayak to aircraft carrier, there are distinctive classes of boats of every size, and incredible variety in every class. Our '69 VW Squareback, being black with a red interior, was "Beuhlah Witch" in honor of Burr Tilstrom's Kuklapolitans. Our current Mazda 626 ('96) is white. So, of course, the only possible name was "Shmoo". Boy do we need them today!
As Bruce Phllips said when introduced to the VW: "Oh. Animism."

I called my 1994 Toyota Corolla "The Bullet Mobile." Not because it accelerated like a bullet. Rather because of the distinctive circular patches of rust on the side.
After some time, we decided that we needed to name my wife's 2004 Camry, out of fairness. It ended up being "The Mean Machine." Now that the bullet mobile has gone on to whiter pastures (Syracuse) there's no need to refer to them by name. The mean machine simply goes by "our car..."
Cheers!
But did you paint the name on the car? That's what boat owners do. It's not enough to think and speak the name.
